Executive Principal's Welcome

Sam haineyWelcome to Harris Clapham Sixth Form. It is an enormous privilege to introduce the Sixth Form to you. We opened on 1 September 2021 with our first cohort of Year 12 students. We will be a beacon of excellence for what a well-rounded Sixth Form education should be like. We welcome students from across London, not just Lambeth and have 600 spaces across Years 12 and 13.

Our academy is brand new and benefits from being a state-of-the-art building. It has been especially designed to deliver a Sixth Form education, including an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related subjects.

We have, for example, high specification science laboratories, computing suites and art facilities. In short, our teachers have access to the resources that they need to teach their subjects to the highest level.

Our teachers are all subject experts – they have a deep knowledge that will enable them to support and challenge their students to achieve their personal best. I am also the Executive Principal for Harris Academy Clapham. The Sixth Form will work closely with Harris Clapham - one example of this is sixth-formers working with younger students to give them additional role modelling and inspiration. The vision for Harris Clapham Sixth Form is simple: 'Be the best'. This includes to be the best place to learn and also the best place for teachers to work. We will have three values for students:

Courage – so that our students will:

  • be the best version of themselves that they can be
  • champion inclusion and make the world a better place
  • persevere and successfully meet the challenges of sixth form studies.

Confidence – so that our students will:

  • believe in themselves and what they can achieve
  • use their range of talents to the full
  • help shape their community and be role models for modern Britain.

Commitment – so that our students:

  • ‘walk the talk’ and have the discipline to make things happen
  • work hard and take actions to achieve their full potential
  • think and act positively for others and not just themselves.

The academy offers a Level 3 curriculum package. This focuses on A-level and vocational courses, full details of which are included on our website. Students will also benefit from a first-class enrichment and personal social/health curriculum. We particularly focus on developing student’s leadership skills. Students have a wide range of ways to develop their leadership, including in their local community.

Our students will leave Harris Clapham Sixth Form, with a deep sense of achievement – ready to excel in the further challenges of life that lie ahead of them. In summary, they will continue on their journey to ‘be the best’.
