Oscar Wilde said “Why was I born with such contemporaries?” Gore Vidal went further with “It is not enough to succeed, others must fail.”These witty comments touch on a darker part of humanity, and one of the things I love most about schools is when they challenge this.

Open Evenings

Your time at Harris Clapham Sixth Form represents a significant step in the move from childhood to being an adult and part of that step is being closer to having employment prospects and a career path.

Because the future is unpredictable and the world of work ever-changing and dynamic, HCL6F will give you a wide range of opportunities and skills that will enable you to excel in whatever role you find yourself (and we encourage you to throw yourself wholeheartedly into our extra-curricular and super-curricular offer rather than measuring all you do against a particular career destination).

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be thinking about the next stage – rather that you should be exposed to a wide range of possible careers. You might not (probably should not) yet know where you want to end up, but making wise choices with your next step is important.

Our second open evening, therefore, is focused on thinking about the step after sixth form – we have identified 32 career paths that might be of interest and our teachers and students will be able to tell you how subjects and qualifications we offer lead towards those – in addition to making you more generally employable and being exciting things to study for the next two years in their own right. We also have talks from Mr Handscombe, our Executive Principal who will set out further our approach to being ready for the adult world and guests from a range of sectors who will talk about their experiences in sixth form and beyond. Choosing your sixth form is a big decision and an exciting step – we think there are lots of reasons to choose Harris Clapham Sixth Form and look forward to meeting you.

Our Open Evening is running 5-7pm on Tuesday 27th February 2024. To sign up, please book your slot here.
