Covid-19 - From September 2021
This is our page where we will include information for our students, parents and carers on how the academy is following the latest guidance on managing coronavirus (Covid-19).
We share information by updating the website regularly.
England is moving to Step 4 from the 19 July 2021 and this is expected to be the situation when the academy opens in September 2021.
To find out more about Step 4 and what that means for schools please click here.
Our students are encouraged to take part in asymptomatic testing at the beginning of the autumn term. This means we have been asked by the Government to carry out two lateral flow tests, 3 to 5 days apart at the beginning of September. We will be letting students know at enrolment the date and times of these tests.
In advance of enrolment, we have written to students who have applied and provisionally accepted a place and asked them to read the following documents in advance of taking part in any lateral flow testing.
Document One - some frequently asked questions on asymptomatic testing - click here.
Document Two - the privacy notice on how data will be used from the two lateral flow tests - click here.
Students who choose to take part in testing will be asked to sign the consent form at enrolment. A copy of the consent form can be accessed by clicking here.
If any of these documents change we will update the website as soon as we possibly can.
Students are also expected to continue to then test at home twice a week for at least the month of September and share the outcome of the test with us, particularly if it is positive. The privacy notice for these tests can be accessed by clicking here.
Of course nothing can replace the key messages:
- good hygiene by regular hand washing and sanitising - we will ask all students and visitors to sanitise on entry to the academy and regularly during the day (or their visit)
- we will ensure that the academy is cleaned regularly
- we will have a state-of-the-art ventilation system to make sure spaces are well ventilated
- we will always follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of Covid-19.
We are sure that you know that it goes without saying that students, parents or carers should not come into the academy if they have symptoms of Covid-19. Symptoms and what do to if you suspect you have symptoms are summarised clearly by the NHS here. An easy to read guide on stay at home guidance for you and your household can also be accessed by clicking here.
We will also make sure we have appropriate plans in place so that we can provide a high quality remote education should it ever be needed, such as a student being required to self-isolate.
If you have questions or queries in relation to Covid-19 and how this will impact on the academy then please do email email@example.com.
