I find this one of the greatest pieces of cognitive dissonance about the Harris Federation. We're said to be ruthless, moneygrabbing capitalists who want nothing more than to throw the poor and vulnerable onto the streets and yet we've gone into primary schooling & then nurseries https://t.co/f1cM8XMuyF

Head of School's Welcome

SarahWelcome to Harris Clapham Sixth Form. It is an enormous privilege to lead our academy into its second year of opening, providing a rich and rigorous education for students in Lambeth and beyond.  A love of learning and a commitment to the transformational power of education is at our core. We not only aim to empower students with the knowledge and skills that they need to realise their potential, but also help them to develop as leaders and exceptional communicators who have the confidence to challenge and think critically.

We want our students to be hugely ambitious, to dream bigger and to realise their aspirations, with the help of great teaching, a rigorous curriculum and a fantastic extra-curricular offer that broadens horizons and sparks curiosity. As well as our curriculum and enrichment offer, our students undertake a cultural perspective each term which opens up new worlds and ways of thinking. Above all, we really believe our students are capable of anything, and we are relentless in supporting them to pursue their ambitions.

Our opportunities for leadership development ensure that our students can make their mark on the world and to have the confidence and integrity to stand up for what they believe in. Our PRSHE curriculum supports our students to develop resilience and empathy, as well as building fantastic university and career skills for their brilliant futures.

We are a community who work together for the greater good of our academy; there is a culture of mutual respect and kindness between staff and students that I am immensely proud of.

Our academy is brand new and benefits from being a state-of-the-art building. It has been especially designed to deliver a Sixth Form education, including an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related subjects.

Our teachers are all subject experts – they have a deep knowledge that will enable them to support and challenge their students to achieve their personal best. They also all love their subjects, and that enthusiasm is infectious; students are excited about learning because their teachers are.

Here, students develop the Clapham Character - articulated in three simple values:

Courage - so that our students will:

  • be the best version of themselves that they can be
  • champion inclusion and make the world a better place
  • persevere and successfully meet the challenges of sixth form studies.

Commitment - so that our students:

  • 'walk the talk' and have the discipline to make things happen
  • work hard and take actions to achieve their full potential
  • think and act positively for others and not just themselves.
  • Our students will leave Harris Clapham Sixth Form, with a deep sense of achievement – ready to excel in the further challenges of life that lie ahead of them.

Confidence - so that our students will:

  • believe in themselves and what they can achieve
  • use their range of talents to the full
  • help shape their community and be role models for modern Britain.

It is a fantastic place to learn and to work. We hope that you might like to join us.

Sarah Heuston
