On Thursday afternoon, our A Level English and Drama students were treated to a dazzling West End production of The Great Gatsby. We were fortunate to catch the show in its final week—and it did not disappoint. What a way to kick off the term!

The Academy’s exceptional results mean that students can now take up places at some of the country’s leading universities to study subjects such as Medicine, Architecture, Zoology, Psychology, Computer Science, Politics and Biochemistry.

Over one third of all entries achieved A*-B grades (or equivalent) with almost a fifth (19%) achieving the top A* and A grades (or equivalent).  100% of vocational students passed their qualifications with a huge 70% achieving a Distinction or Distinction* grade.

Freshers Fair

On Thursday we had our annual Freshers’ Fair to welcome the new Year 12s. It was a great chance for them to meet each other, get to know the Year 13s, and settle into life at sixth form.

In the weeks leading up to it, we as house captains and vice-captains put a lot of time into planning and setting up activities that we thought everyone would enjoy. It was so good to see all the effort pay off on the day, with people getting involved in everything from Guess the Song, where songs like With You by Davido had everyone singing along, to Mafia, the cup game, and plenty of sports.

What stood out the most was how quickly the Year 12s got stuck in. They were willing to try new things, join in and start building friendships straight away. We were really proud to see how welcoming and supportive everyone was, and how the activities helped to break the ice.

Overall, the Freshers’ Fair was such a positive way to start the year. The energy and enthusiasm from both Year 12s and Year 13s makes us confident that this is going to be a brilliant year ahead.
