Parents' Evenings

Parents’ Evening is an important opportunity for families and teachers to work together to support your child's progress. We warmly encourage all parents and carers to attend.
Parents' Evening dates
Details of upcoming Parents’ Evening dates will be shared here, once they are published.
What happens at Parents' Evening
Parents’ Evening is a structured event where you will meet your child’s subject teachers to discuss:
- Academic progress
- Attitude to learning
- Attendance and punctuality
- Preparation and independent study
- Next steps to help them succeed
Each appointment with an individual teacher lasts five minutes, allowing every family dedicated time with teachers.
Students arrange their own appointments with each subject teacher in advance. Appointments run across a set time window in the late afternoon and early evening. Please arrive slightly before your first appointment to ensure you can make full use of your time.
What to expect from the conversation with each teacher
Conversations are focused and structured so that you receive clear, useful information.
Teachers focus on three key areas during each discussion:
1. Academic progress
You will receive feedback on:
- Mechanics grade – their understanding of key knowledge and subject content
- Purpose grade – their ability to apply knowledge to exam-style questions
- How this links to their current grade
2. Response and independent learning
This is an area where parental support has the greatest impact. Teachers will discuss:
- Completion of Prep and Reflection tasks
- Quality of response work
- Any missed or outstanding tasks
3. Attitude and organisation
You will receive feedback on:
- Engagement in lessons
- Punctuality and attendance
- Organisation and readiness to learn
- Any necessary changes or improvements
At the end of each meeting, there will be time for any questions.
What to expect on the evening
When you arrive, you will:
- Sign in at reception
- Receive any relevant data sheets or reports
- Be directed to the correct subject area
Student leaders are available throughout the building to guide families and ensure the evening runs smoothly.
Support is also available to help parents sign up to or access the My Child at School (MCAS) app.
