Digital Media Students Take On Real World Briefs

Digital Media Students Take On Real World Briefs

Eleven Digital Media students took on some real world briefs from the world of commerce recently  taking on the challenge of creating a digital product for an old established brand, Aston Martin, and also a newcomer on the block, HelloFresh.

Aston Martin wanted a viral global launch to remember, while HelloFresh wanted to create a much more intimate digital doorstep experience.

Digital Day

The Digital Day was organised by The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) whereby they arranged for a team of digital media specialists to join us to guide, mentor and lead our students as they navigated the projects.

What did students learn

The digital sector has been growing at twice the rate of the broader economy; but unless we fix the skills shortage, that growth will not be able to continue. Digital Day works to encourage more young people to discover the potential of a digital career.

Students found out that digital is everything from data to design, sales to cybersecurity. They also learnt how to generate ideas, work as a team, refine designs and present their work to a critical panel who demanded answers as they sketched out the user journey, the user experience and how it will look on the screen. The most important question being how does your product meet the client brief and objectives.

It was a pleasure to see them grow and start to work with discipline and confidence with the seasoned industry professionals. Guge respect to the Year 12 media team: Kiana, William, Imisan, Michael, Desire, Kaysha, Taiwo, Malachi, Nathan and Johanna. Here’s hoping that one of the team will go forward to the grand final. Good luck!
