What We've Been Up To

    Posted on November 12th 2025

    Digital Day

On Wednesday 12th November 11 Digital Media students took on some real world briefs from the world of commerce. The challenge was to create a digital product for an old established brand - a favourite of Mr Bond - Aston Martin. The other, a newcomer on the Block – HelloFresh. Aston Martin wanted a viral global launch to remember while HelloFresh wanted to create a much more intimate digital doorstep experience.

The Digital day was organised by The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) whereby they arranged for a team of digital media specialists to join us to guide, mentor and lead our students as they navigated the projects.

What did students learn well: the digital sector has been growing at twice the rate of the broader economy; but unless we fix the skills shortage, that growth will not be able to continue. Digital Day works to encourage more young people to discover the potential of a digital career. Students found out that digital is everything from data to design, sales to cybersecurity, technology to .Students also learnt how to generate ideas, work as a team, refine designs and present their work to a critical panel who demanded answers as they sketched out the user journey, the user experience and how it will look on the screen. The most important question being how does your product meet the client brief and objectives.

It was a pleasure to see them grow and start to work with discipline and confidence with the seasoned industry professionals. So huge respect to the Y12 media team: Kiana, William, Imisan, Michael, Desire, Kaysha, Taiwo, Malachi, Nathan and Johanna and all they achieved and here’s hoping that one of the teams will go forward to the grand final. Good luck guys.
